I think it was Nark that was looking around for a revolver.  Here's
a neat choice:  S&W 686+

I am a sucker for stainless.  Never liked blue much.  It wears over the
decades and always ends up looking like shit.

Seven rounds, 4 inch barrel.  Here's the neat thing:  it will take .357 Magnum
when you're in the mood for something snappy, but it will also take the cheaper
lighter .38 Special.  Nice.

You can shoot it double action, but frankly, I can't hit the broad side of a barn
in DA.  I far prefer to draw the hammer back, which draws the trigger back,
and gives you a wonderfully light trigger pull in SA.

Note that I have a very biased viewpoint.  I am a huge fanboy of all things
Smith & Wesson.  My .50 Magnum (S&W calls it "500") which IMHO is one
of the best revolvers of all time:

You'd shit your pants if you bought ammo for it.  I was at the range this weekend
and absent-mindedly picked up 4 boxes (20 rounds per box) for it, because they
had it in stock.  Yes, at USD$4 per round, I noticed when I signed the credit card
receipt.

The great-grandson of the Wesson in S&W is responsible for my favorite
pistol, the Dan Wesson 1911 .45 ACP Commander Bobtail:

Incredible trigger.  Even I can get tight groupings with it, and that's really
saying something.
