Or is this garbage because it's from Fox News?

"This has been very bizarre," Olivia Dorfman said, calling the situation "unbelievable," before adding: "No one seems to know what they're doing."

Nothing like getting the real skinny from somebody passing through the terminal...  (;>0)

Sounds like a real mess....

Some serious questions need to be asked about how a single event can take out both normal and backup power systems. This sort of thing is supposed to be looked at in the design/planning stage.
The assessment of a potential SPOF involves identifying the critical components of a complex system that would provoke a total systems failure in case of malfunction.

Highly reliable systems should not rely on any such individual component.
Duh.

What would an old man like me who likes paper tickets know about keeping the lights on with back up generators?

Funny how the power would fail more often in the 1900s, but my mom could light a candle and use the telephone.

A few years back this happened at the ORD Tracon
and none of the emergency generators would start.

Nark1

I've seen a few APU fail to start, or auto shutdown.

MEh.

As for a Single point of failure ... point....  I can't help but think of the "jesus nut" on the Bell 206.  1 nut holding the rotor on.

1, one..... un  eine.

Unless there's ice on the inlets, then mine refuses to boot.
