If you applied for a job flying floats on the west coast would you rather be paid a base pay plus mileage and only work seasonally or would you rather be paid a fixed salary with guarantee of full employment year round?
Next question:
To fly both single and twin engine airplanes as required what pay for each of the above scales would you want?
What would you rather have pay wise?

The latter option in the case of the first question. With a few other conditions.[/quote]
Thanks for the reply.
Could you outline the other conditions?
I have a very good reason for asking these questions.
Time off is very important for sure.
The weather on the west coast is really crappy during mid November to around mid February so an employer could give
say two conservative months off during that time period with the understanding that the pilot would be avaliable to work the remaining ten months.
So what guaranteed yearly pay would be acceptable?
And what pay would be acceptable on a base pay plus mileage seasonally?
