If I hear the phrase "it's legal" one more time in reference to making operational decisions I am going to go postal -- Unfortunately it has become the new catch phrase of aviation with the total disregards for what is safe and what is just common sense.

During my flying career in corporate aviation, we used to routinely execute 1200 RVR departures and arrivals.

That still on?

John,

Absolutely.  I've done a few RVR 600 takeoff's.

As for over worked phrases, how about "fly safe!"
Ya no shit.  In my case, those guys shooting at us, it's kind of hard too.

At my other day job, yeah, I don't like Las Vegas or Orlando that much.  I'll get the pax there when I know I can too safely.

1200 RVR is definitely legal.

Most of the time I see it with guys picking alternates -- yup believe the forecast when everything else is telling you different.
