There's probably something wrong with me, but I love this:

This will likely piss off the four bars, but here is some footage I just
uploaded from a few years ago ... I think this was the first time I ever flew
wing in an L39?

Here's a video I made back in the day, I believe the statute of limitations has lapsed for dumb fuckering in Airplanes. Thank goodness GoPro didn't exist back then or TC would have had me on speed dial.

Some low level stuff on there and me looking up locations.

There is no statute of limitation in the CARS or Aeronautics Act.

The TC Enforcement policy manual says after one year, no fine but
licence suspension is ok, even if many years after the fact, because
there is no financial penalty involved in a licence suspension.

Is that the terminal at Watson Lake in the thumbnail pic behind the 206?

That’s a neat place. Lots of airplanes still in the lakes around there. They had pics on the wall of someone pulling an L39 out of a snowbank. Never got the story behind that.

pulling an L39 out of a snowbank
That happens. More than once, I have been unable to turn an L39 around
on an ice and snow-covered runway, with the fucking thing weathervaning
into the howling crosswind, and the brakes locked up and the tires sliding
and your left arm all the way forward. Goods news is no FOD.

Personally, I shut it down, then walk into the airport office, get a bunch of
guys and we walk out and move it around by hand.

Hell, I had to do that at Ottawa, once. ATC loved me.

I think I have a picture around somewhere. If it annoys the four bars enough,
I'll dig it up. They tell me they fucking hate it when I post pictures, so I make
a special effort to.

Christ, I don't miss the snow and ice.

Pro Tip™: live someplace where it's 70F and sunny every day, with no bugs.

That’s actually at YHT Haines Junction Yukon. The Territory government spent some bucks on terminals at all the airports. They did a pretty nice job.

When I went east out to MB and Ontario it was kind of a shock to see the dilapidated buildings and outhouses they passed off as terminals at their airports.

low flying was probably a lot more fun when cell phone towers were not popping up everywhere....and of course having people shooting at you is not a fun day out either...

Neat! Its been a while but I remember them being of similar decor.

I think the last time any airport besides Winnipeg or St Andrews in Manitoba has been improved was the Second World war. Actually Flin isn't bad. Avoid stopping at Tom Cochrane's home town, the Lynn Inn isn't as pretty as the internet pictures show.
