Ah my fav, wet starts, These guys all did the right thing. I know there are lots of pilots out there that would just abandon and let it burn to the ground.

The beaver had a weird problem. They would develop a fuel tank leak from ham fisted people dropping things like 45 gal barrels on the floor. Combine that with a wet start and you had a real fire. I know of several beavers that met their waterloo because of this. Saw one myself but we saved the old girl.

Two words: (no, not "love you"):

KEEP CRANKING

When you're on fire, try to kill the battery and the starter. You're
already burning the airplane down, so why not? Hit the pace car.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when someone on fire says
they have to stop cranking after X seconds because their stupid
fucking checklist says so.

Sigh.

I'm not a very good pilot, so it's mixture off, throttle open and
crank it until the prop stops. Then casually step outside and go
get some sticks and marshmallows.
