You should know that there are different kinds of paint.

Some paint is air-dry, some paint is epoxy and chemically reacts.

You should know that different paints use different solvents, and
that's really fucking important.

Probably the most gentle paints use water as their solvent.  Latex
paints, used to paint the inside walls of a house, are an example.
They don't stink when they dry, which is nice.

A step up from latex are oil-based enamels, like Tremcladâ„¢.  They
use mineral spirits as their solvent, which is nowhere near as nasty
as lacquer thinner, but you can't drink it like water, either.

Next up are lacquer paints, which use very nasty lacquer thinner
as their solvent.  A very hard paint, though.  Can chip.

Lesson:  you can paint enamel over lacquer, but you cannot paint
lacquer over enamel, because it will dissolve and "crows-foot" the
enamel underneath, even if it is years old.

I won't mention flexible fabric paint, because no one gives a shit
any more.

Guess who checked Bill out on that airplane?  :-)

When it showed up, it had these really bizarre [u]solid links[/u] to the
tailwheel from the rudder pedals.  Also, the ratio of the steering
horn was wild.  It was quite something on the runway.

PS  I hope that water-based fabric system is good for high Vne - a
lot aren't.
