This has to be the ultimate family SUV.
Last year the family was down in San Diego, I showed the wife the math.
It went something like this, if we departed Carlsbad in our own Malibu we would land in YBW about the same time it takes us to drive down to KSAN ditch the rental car, get to terminal, go through security, wait , depart and then upon landing in YYC get through customs, get luggage and get the car.
But we would be on our own schedule.
The other math went like this.
Family of 4 on WJ YYC to KSAN = $3,400 bucks round trip.
CYBW - KCRQ - CYBW, 200 knots
CYBW KCRQ 1,086 nm 5:26
KCRQ CYBW 1,086 nm 5:26
Call it 12.5 hour of fuel at 18 Gal = 225 Gal at $6 = $1,350 in fuel
$30/hour for engine reserve ($60,000/2000) = $375.
$15/ hour misc = 187.50
So your into it for $2,000, of course this omits the capital to buy it (1/4 share would make sense) and the hangar etc but on a pure trip cost and convenience factor it’s by far one of the most “economical” cross country airplanes you can buy.

Bummer I went and looked at controller.com and there is a nice blue one on there right now.
If I was younger I'd buy that champ I posted about ages ago, still for sale but when Shiny let me fly his conventional gear Cessna I didn't love it. Of course it may have been too windy for my first time. And of course I hadn't flown for almost a year. I should probably just skip renewing my medical and go back to recreational drinking.
