Barring any injuries that preclude it, they'll be back in the Wild Blue as soon as the accident investigation is complete.

I should maybe dig out the little story I wrote about how I have an unequal number of departures/landings...

And yes:  Bravo Zulu to them!

Reminds me.  There was an unofficial status - "Ace both ways".

That is, someone who had shot down 5 enemy aircraft
but had used up 5 of his own side's aircraft in the process!

I used to fly airshows with a German glider pilot, I
think he was one of those.  Oscar something?

He was both an Allied and a German Ace.  A nice old guy.  I liked him.
