Flew through that whole mess and not one flight canceled but used 3000 lbs of taxi fuel waiting in the deicing line. I was lucky I was living off Elgin and never lost any power. My buddies out of town were not so lucky, some had no power for over 2 weeks.

11 days without power.  Burned a lot of wood.

The funny thing was all the kids born 9 months
later.  I'm not making this up.  Not much else
to do but screw when the power is off.

That SOB of a storm destroyed my delta loop antenna.
By 1998 I had built and tested a lot of ham radio antennas but nothing performed like this one,beating Yagis and linear amplifiers consistenly
The 6061 aluminium tubing was bent and twisted by the weight of the ice , the antenna settle slowly on the roof of my house
