I want one, they're only $480 000. I'm not getting one.

Would someone who understands engineering better than I be able to confirm how this would affect the thickness and other parameters of the metal object while cleaning the rust/corrosion off?
Is there more to this than the lasers being a micro-scrubbing agent akin to a very small steel-wool scrubber?

It works because the rust absorbs the energy from the laser and is heated to a plasma state. The bare metal underneath the rust is reflective at the wavelength of the laser, so it doesn't heat up.

I would love to use it to clean up the rust on my old Subaru but I fear that I wouldn't have any car left at the end.
