We lost another Mercury 7 astronaut today.

Portrayed as the clean all American guy in the right stuff. Quite likable in both that story and many actual film clips.

The second group, the New Nine, there are 5 still alive and of the group of 12 that walk on the moon the 7 remaining[size=1em][font=verdana] all are north of 80[/font][/size]

Was just listening to Chris Hadfield on the radio plug his new children's book, what an amazing time it must have been,  with all the hope and optimism the space race inspired. All I had was the Challenger Disaster, Ben Johnson, Trans Ams and Mullets, Expo 86.

Thank goodness my dad had enough sense to be a pilot and share that with me.
