I thought it was a really well made movie, and paints our industry in a positive light, so I enjoyed it. I highly recommend reading Sullenberger's book "Highest Duty". They should be issued it at these flight colleges to the fledglings . It paints the portrait of a professional and someone who is well dedicated to his craft. As we all should strive to be.

Saw it tonight, quite enjoyable, even my wife liked it which surprised me. Only thing I though was perhaps unrealistic was the NTSB hearing at the end but of course they needed to compress things and add some controversy for dramatic effect.

Read the accident report and there was only one criticism of Sully which was airspeeds on 'final approach' being too low due to being saturated so nothing about possible other choices for landing as the movie alludes to.

Anyway 4 starts I suppose certainly the best aviation related movie thats been out in a long time.

I hardly go to the movies now , but I made a point to go see this one .
I  liked it but not to the extent I thought would and I'm not sure why.
I liked the dignified way the flying profession is portrayed ,good acting and cinematography but perhaps
I would have liked to seen more on how his training and experience lead him to make the right decision,in this case to land on the river and not LGA or TEB
Overall a good movie

I agree with you there, van. Having read his book, I also feel like they could have slipped in a lot more about his background and eased up on creating a false conflict with the NTSB.Well said about the movie dignifying our profession. It's been a while since we had something like that. I could see a 10 year old me seeing this movie and being motivated to chase a career in it.

Classy tribute from Jeppesen:-

The movie did not portray the NTSB in a very good light - the reality was quite different from what I hear. That's probably why they changed the names of the NTSB investigators to avoid being sued for libel.

IIRC the makers of the movie have even admitted that they needed a villain.
