Hi, I see Air Spray has an ad out for pilots. Does anyone here have experience with them? I know you are away from home for the summer but am hoping someone can shed a bit more light on the schedule, wawcon etc. I would be applying for scooper work, not sure if different machines have different schedules or not. I understand the best way to get the info is to apply but am asking here first. Thanks.

I knew a few guys who went through there a number of years ago they had good things to say, but that was all 10+ years ago. Hopefully someone's got some current info

I am sure it depends on the contract, but generally it's 6 months / 3 months / ... on, with only the CARs required days off (7 in 41 or something silly like that).

Positions are supposedly assigned by seniority, but since there's no union, that's not a guarantee at all. It's better to be friends with management. Salary is negotiable, but you're only paid for the months you're contracted. Generally you could say you're paid a double 'normal' monthly salary because you're available pretty much all the time, but no pay during winter months.

LIfestyle will also depend on the contract. I believe Manitoba pilots drive (!) to their bases, whereas Alberta flies.

Spray pilots earn $$$ here. The guy that did my BFR a few years back works 4 months of the year, and takes 8 off. He's like a teacher.

PS can someone explain how you spray at night? People think I’m batshit crazy but that’s as looney as a CNN commentator.

It should be said that airspray isnt a "spray" or application operation anymore despite the name. As per night spray operations some of the gps application tools are pretty precise these days, assuming they're similar to some of the set ups I use which has you down to single meter accuracies. The one heads up display i tested once had you fly the airplane through the boxes on screen, and that was a decade ago. I can imagine what is out there now.

I think Airspray has a similar set up to ConAir who also has a job ad up with more detailed working conditions.
The details of my life are quite inconsequential...
