the staggeringly high numbers are shocking; but in other ways, they seem practically inevitable, given the frequency and intensity with which our government inserts itself — through regulation, legislation, federal departments and federal institutions — into our everyday lives.

But the fact that so many legal claims have been filed also speaks to just how intrusive government has become; and while not every lawsuit  can be assumed to result from a valid complaint, by the same token, we must imagine that for each of the 45,000 plaintiffs who have somehow found the resources to sue, there are hundreds of other citizens who have real grievances, but have not made it to litigation.

The most concerning of these consequences is the readiness with which officials feel emboldened to encroach on people’s lives in unreasonable and unwarranted ways. As Sorochan summarized, “Unjust actions take place because bureaucrats know that few can challenge the decisions and that the Department of Justice will be there to stonewall for them.”
Sound familiar?

Remember, if you challenge a bureaucrat that's
off-base or has their hand in the cookie jar,
you are a BAD PERSON

The Auditor-General of Grand Cayman - who
used to work for RevCan - once observed that
"Canada is a government-owned and operated
enterprise".

The above probably won't make sense to people
who have never left Canada, and think it's normal.
