Free advertising.

Well this site is finally getting free advertising on Avcanada, however I am not sure if the members of this forum will be all that pleased about how they are seen by some of the Avcanada posters.

I am trying to contact Trey Kule there about a PM he sent me a couple of weeks ago and it has generated some rather interesting comments.

In fact BPF just got it locked and it would appear he thinks some of you are not exactly the kind of people worthy of Avcanada.

Interesting ...

It's unfortunate you feel that way, I would encourage you to stick around.

I have wanted to create a forum that would allow all members to freely express their opinions and share their knowledge. The aviation community is diverse and I understand we will not all agree and sing Kumbaya save the whales together. Therefore to create an open forum I have vowed not be an activist moderator who deletes posts because I do not agree or have a personal beef with that poster.

So I will hold off on hitting the big red button.

As for the AVCANADA post: http://avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=103215

I guess their is no such thing as bad publicity?

Which one am I the Troll?

Wow - I had no idea I had pissed off
BPF so badly - or at all, for that matter.

People are so incredibly sensitive, and
ready to burst into tears at the drop of
a hat.

It's incredibly embarrassing - Canada
used to be a kick-ass country.  Now it
seems to be filled with whining pussies
with hurt feelings.

Must be an age thing, but you have to
wonder how these delicate types handle
tough situations in the cockpit.  Do they
burst into tears and run into the lav?

Hey Colonel we shouldn't be to judgmental about some of the Avcanada group just look at how quick and definitive heavy744 was....he made a decision and acted on it in a real leader like way......that is real kick ass Captain material you just got a quick glimpse of.

he most have spent a significant amount of time in his mothers basement.  some people just have to have their way.  the forum was better when he took his break, I was sad to see him come back.  What an asshole... so much so I bet he has a starring role as captain asshole in the hopeful sequel of the mel brooks classic spaceballs.

As a totally impartial viewer/poster, I gotta say that sometimes you guys have a wee bit of a blind spot.

That thread in AvCanada seemed pretty tame to me, and here you guys are commenting about hurt feelings and seemingly exhibiting your own.  They talked about flamers and then you proceed to act insulted and then flame them... hmmm.....  (and no, I don't think they were saying everyone here was like that, but if the shoe fits...)

Regarding the free advertising on AvCanada (and the comments in another thread about how they took down your posts about this forum) - well, duh!  It's a competing site - of course they aren't going to sing your praises and say "Hey everyone, you should go there instead of here!"  If someone were to stand outside my company and hand out flyers for my competition, I would chase them away, too.

So not quite the first post I intended on making on this new forum, but I do think it will be a good litmus test to see just how many flamers there are here :)

Isn't calling somebody a flamer flaming?

Being a passive aggressive dick is worse than being an outright Asshole.

Welcome to the forum Hiflychick! regarding posting links on Avcanada I am not talking about overtly posting "hey check out Scudrunners.com its waaay better than this stupid site."

I would post links to articles on the main page of Scudrunners.com if folks would happen to click through to the forum and sign up is their business. Further to that point do you only read one magazine about a particular subject? Granted your not going to find Ads for Time in People magazine but read your newspaper and every article is pretty much from another papers author.

For the record if you find an interesting thread on any "competing" aviation forum please link to that post on here, I really don't care.
I would rather the information get out to the readers.

Aviation has always been about a community willing to help each other out, yes there are people you will not get along with or disagree with but that is life you can always ignore them.

Anyway welcome to the forum!
