I find it difficult to believe that a fuel tank explosion caused that crash.

If there is a possibility that a fuel tank can explode how come there has not ever been another one explode?

well they ran with it the the bulletin even had far-reaching to other Boeing types and was all completed I remember going through all that stuff on the 72 at the time and wondering what the hell am I going to blow up I don't think it was shot down they pretty much cleared that up but you never know I guess conspiracy theorists are alive and well.

It's interesting that if that's the case with very little ramifications as far as the general public is concerned and compare that to today with the Max issues and the public outcry of a perfectly good flying aircraft, go figure.
