Been flying and maintaining for 49 years, now ... 42% of the history of human flight.
Perfect lifetime safety record, which is why I'm considered a shit stick by TC.

Maule’s are okay, I guess.
I’m more of a PA18 guy, if it’s going to be a 4 banger. But I’m biased.
My record so far in the fire breathing big 6 continental Cessna 180 (O-470J) is roughly 338’ ground roll on landing. More or less the same for takeoff.
I passed my annual line check today, so tomorrow I’m good to play until my heart is content.

It's a farmer's airplane. I actually have potato farmers on both side of my family. I am doomed.

I am glad to hear that you are still employed. It used to be in the old days an airline pilot could
expect to be furloughed three times during his career.
I would not have made a very good airline pilot. Not a happy place for a stick & rudder guy.

Sophisticated city folk with their long commutes will disagree, but ...
If all you do in your life is fly tailwheel from off-airport grass strips,
you really haven't missed out on much in aviation. Maybe floats is all.
