A rumoUr down south is that WestJet has layed-off (furloughed) 600+ pilots.
And sunwing has closed down.

Any truth to this, or is this just the pilot sewing circle jerk running wild?

Godspeed, if true.

Chris.

appears to be true WS no international flights and reducing domestic up to 50% -- from the news so as accurate as it gets.

From a close friend at WJ; all international flying stopped (don’t know if they consider US as int’l) and domestic to be cut by approximately half. I’ve heard either half the Q400 drivers to be furloughed plus 700 jet pilots but I’ve also heard that 700 is the total number across all fleets.

Sunwing will be repatriating until the 23rd then all flight crew members furloughed.

Porter will be parking shortly (I want to say at the end of this Friday) for a couple months.

No proper word yet on AC or Transat but I expect Transat to be brutal and AC to at least be un-fun for all involved.

Delta announced it is parking up to 600 aircraft!

The speed of this shutdown has really surprised me. We're heading for an almost complete shutdown of the Airline industry imho.

It's becoming impossible to travel internationally and domestic flights will need to be cancelled to to stop the spread of this Virus.

Last I heard WJ is putting 1700 pilots on furlough. Rumour is that’s everyone hired after 2004.
