Well handled by the Tower, calm and very professional.

I'm not too bright, but was rwy 23 closed?  Was the ILS 23 U/S?

No ILS available on Rwy23 and part of the runway closed from what I understand.

Appears they may not have had RNAV approval and the ILS Rwy 14 was the only one available to them.

Well crashing one of their birds is much cheaper than getting the paperwork and database in order.
Although, I’m not free from placing the blame on the crew either.  The hesitation and bewilderment of tower when he gives the wind on short final.

I’m not a 747 driver, but from what I’m told, based on weight, the landing shouldn’t have been a problem.  Assuming dry conditions.

Is it some kind of weird east coast aviation tradition
to crash at YHZ?  A retirement stunt, like those guys
at Hawaii that would buzz the beach on their last flight?

I don't mind when people crash an Airbus (as long as
no one gets hurt) because that makes the world a better
place.  But I do get sad when someone wrecks a Boeing
for no good reason whatsoever.

Blasphemy:
Any airbus pilot will tell you Airbus is better.  Double points to a who has flown both the737 AND A320.
Airbus cockpit is like a lazy boy chair.
Boeing is like Grandmas wooden rocker.

I can fly without a headset.  As a matter of fact one flight I did.
I can stand up in the cockpit.
...Super nerdy alert....
Cruise flight is smoother because airbus uses +/- 50’ and doesn’t jocky the thrust to keep level.  It rides the altitude excursions.

Boeing is made in the US, well final manufacture.

In that case so is Airbus...
