These must have been scary. They kind of still are. Someone was tow launching what I presume was a replica.

There’s used to be an unpowered red Komet replica doing the air show circuit in Europe.  I think for a stretch it may have even been owned by Airbus.


I’ve always thought a Komet with a hybrid rocket (solid fuel, liquefied gas oxidizer) would be a hell of an act for airshows for a season or two.  Only trouble is the CARs specifically forbid rocket powered aircraft.  I always wondered what the story was on that one.
