Transport Canada...How about some help?

i understand that some folks from TC visit these sites.

And , I think it is pretty much agreed that flight training in Canada is a big issue right now.

So, here is the thing.  Instead of piling on more policy, more regulations, and hoop after hoop to jump through, how about some of you TC types actually make an effort to make it easier to get an FTU AOC.

It has been mentioned over and over on these threads, the Part 61 training in the US, and how simple it is for an instructor to start their own flight school.  Compare that to Canada where it can take months and months of paper submissions, pre purchasing an aircraft to just sit, and thousands and thousands of dollars in start up capital.
I dont think it is unreasonable to think it can be simplified,  Part 61 in the US seems to work pretty darn well.
And being able to begin operations allow an operator to earn revenue while meeting more stringent regulations to expand, should they wish to go that route.

I realize that TC’s mandate is to protect the travelling public and not promote aviation, but the continuing piling on of more regulations is doing no one any good.

How about it?  Anyone at TC that really cares about general aviation?

FAA 91.409(b) says:
no person may give flight instruction for hire in an aircraft which that person provides, unless within the preceding 100 hours of time in service the aircraft has received an annual or 100-hour inspection
Brilliantly simply, unlike the huge piles of paperwork that TC
loves FTU's to generate.  But we know that the only thing that
Canadians love more than high taxes, is big government.

There is no technical or safety issue here.  Far more flight training
occurs in the USA than Canada.  And, TC accepts FAA pilot certificates
resulting from FAR 91.409 above at par, in the IPL, so there can be
no technical argument that the massive piles of paper in Canada
actually do anything except impose overhead.

I know you guys all hate Trump, but look at what happens when
you move away from the Marxist-Leninist centralized planned
economy model.  Trump insisted that for every new regulation
created, two had to be removed.  Hate away all you want, but
that's freakin genius.

Feel free to hate away on the IPL, Canada.  Here it is:

What incentive is there for T.C. to make any change?

There is a poster that calls himself Big Pistons Forever on the other site and he finally found the perfect job for him, he is in T.C.'s flight training department.

Go over there and ask him why they don't ever try and improve anything in flight training.

There would have to be a powerful political movement,
possibly involving pictures of the Minister with goats, to
get rid of excessive regulation.

Some mass retirings would probably help, too.  I've noticed
over the decades that when the really bad bureaucrats retire,
things get slightly better as the newer guys try to distance
themselves from the bad shit that went on, before.

TC wants power.  TC wants control.  They get that through
excessive regulations and paperwork.  If they had their way,
every aircraft in Canada would be commercially-registered
and operating under an AOC.

That really implies there's some evil villain running all this.  I think it's more that they're public servants mostly interested in their own continuing employment.  Best way to lock that down is to not make waves.

When was the last time you heard of a TC Inspector fired for cause?

Never, because they mostly just hide until retirement.

Actually, I have heard one on the maintenance side.  Interesting story.
And....after he was fired, he became a consultant and got some special authorities from TC.
....until he got caught ny TC falsifying documents which finally ended their relationship.

Generally, TC takes the position that their inspectors are acting in good faith...even if it is crystal clear they are not.  And, pretty much all civil servants are immune to having to take responsability for anything...

I had one fired for cause in 2003.
