Some interesting media commentary on this plane. Anyone know much about it? According to the reports, it's a light sport plane with a Rotax 912 designed for "beginner" pilots although I'm not sure how a retractable amphib qualifies as a "beginner" airplane, but I digress. Apparently it's also supposed to be flown at low altitude over water.

This airplane is marketed as a " Jet ski with wings"
I believe he had that plane less than a month

What a tragic loss of life.

A amphibious flying boat is not a jet ski, nor is it a beginners airplane.

In my opinion there should be a separate type rating to fly any flying boat due the the differences in water handling compared to a float plane.

That kind of marketing is going to get a lot of people killed imho.

Rumor has it ( plus youtube video's) he was buzzing something/someone prior to the crash.

Since I'm a million miles away from people who eat pork, the video is to grainy to make out.
