I was in PBI when Ivan hit
When it just started ,the big canopy above the building's main entrance disappeared in the blink of an eye,
the rain was a solid wall of water, and some of the windows exploded , good thing we had mattresses behind them,
then we lost power
Few hours later the wind and rain stopped ,the night sky was full of bright stars , the silence subreal
It didn't last too long ,as the hurricane move North, the wind and rain came back more intense than ever
Next day it was all over but it was impossible to leave the area due to debris and fallen trees
Stuck for a week before been able to fly back but in awe at the power of nature
Good luck to all affected by Irma

TAF for KMIA still doesn't look all that bad - we get winds like this where I live in our Autumn/Winter storms.

Tonight I took the wife to what might have been seniors date night at a place down the hill from here and they had the news playing. That was the first I heard about another storm following Irma.

Um? I want to dodge the temptation to derail for now.
I came to complement you and bring one of the coolest links you ever shared, and there have been a few good ones.
It took a bit of searching for me to find this and it did not disappoint, even though I missed the chance to kind of watch Harvey, Irma and the one starting with a K that hit Mexico. Hurracaine Jose is still active.
Also the Hudson's Bay area looks interesting though obviously much less violent.

I've always liked this one for checking out wind patterns, and lots of other stuff. Click the word "earth" at the bottom left for lots of overlays and different views.
