I initially was going to get a Hughes 300 for training but the Robinson factory offered me such a good deal on a R22 I bought one.

If I had it all to do over I would get a Hughes 300 because it is a far better helicopter in my opinion, the most uncomfortable thing for me about the R22 was the unorthodox conntrol system in it I never did get to like that weird design.....a helicopter should have the cyclic stick between your knees, not that weird through over abortion the R22 has.

But if you can fly a R22 properly you can fly any helicopter.

And to think that some people struggle to land a 172.

Hovering an R22 is like stuffing a banana up a monkey's @ss while you are standing on a basketball, in comparison.

That is because their instructors had the same problem.

Heh. You can't teach what you don't know, I suppose.

I thought the R44 was MUCH easier to fly than the R22. Both
of them, however, used the double-rubber-band transmission
which I have grave misgivings about.
