It is possible to get a DC-3 airborne at a low speed 60-65 knots with 1/4 flap. You still bring the tail up. You let the aircraft fly off but in a very shallow climb so it will accelerate quickly above VMC. You can't make any aileron inputs and you have to be very gentle on the elevator inputs.
This is for people who have experience on the aircraft and know what they're doing.
Never underestimate these old aircraft - they'll bite you very hard!

It will be interesting to see if the emergency declared by the pilot in this video was due to an engine failure,

There's a surprising amount of airplane left for something that looked to be going straight down.
