I love aircraft that lay good doppler down.
Conversely, I hate aircraft that don't. They just
sit there in the sky, barely moving, often buzzing
at a very high RPM. Ugh.
A friend of mine at my old airport had an RV-8
and he laid down awesome doppler. The constant
speed prop might have had something to do with
the aural experience, I suppose.
Speaking of props. I live near a very busy small
airport, and many pilots there are unfamiliar with
the use of the prop control. They take off, and
leave the RPM at redline. They pull the throttle
back - remember, oversquare is always bad (sigh) -
but everyone for miles can hear their departure.
Doesn't hurt the prop or the airplane, and God
knows that I'm not complaining about the noise,
but unless you intentionally want to piss off
your airport neighbors, it's not a bad idea to
pull off a couple hundred RPM after the aircraft
is cleaned up and over the obstacles.

A noorduyn with a long two blader would not be welcomed i guess >:D I could knock pictures and crucifixes off walls and at 4 am it was particularly popular. Yup and good doppler effect as well. So I'm told -- haha

Yeah, we've got a local flying a Lancair 320 (with an IO-360 of course). I think there's a law of physics that requires, when takes off and more than one person is watching, that he come around and do a low pass and zoom climb. Yeah the doppler's pretty good then too. ;D
