Was doing the bungees on my Pitts this annual and thought I'd record some of the bits and pieces in case others find it useful. Its not hard but there are a few tricks that make it easier. Hopefully somebody finds it helpful. When I first did these it took a couple of days now I can do them in a few hours. Its probably the same on many older bungee equipped scissor type landing gear aircraft.

My drugstore is very impressed. I tell them all pilots are like me.
As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

Nice video, and much more professionally done than the time I was asked to replace the bungees on a Taylorcraft A. The bungee tool was about six inches longer than the landing gear.

Yes, not easy without the proper tools. I'm sure there have been bungees launched like missiles on occasion.
