Well that’s just neat. Hopefully this venture is successful enough to stimulate whatever development is needed to bring the BSFC of small turbines down closer to piston engines.

I went down this road pretty far. Even so far as signing an NDA with a company.

It’s not really worth it. This specific plane doesn’t fly anymore.

My initially reaction was yikes 175K for it.
Then I engaged the grey matter and thought well 60K for a factory IO520 with a TBO depending on model 1400-1700 hours

So depending on use the hot section time it could be double that of the 520 TBO, you (potentially) get more reliability and not worry about turbos overhauls and better performance etc

might be something to it if they can getter tuned in.

Just think of the number of APU's sitting out there. I have seen one adapted to a boat so why not a good back yard guy adopt for homebuilding. Now you have a real cheap turbine.

I'll be even the produced light aircraft with turbines will not out cost the first viable electric kit.

Solution would be the CD 300 engine burns 9 gph of jet and sends this new DA50 down range at 180 knots. Probably propel something like the RV10 PDQ
